Today’s Program.
Pres Elect Terry introduced Matt Hermann who is our District Youth Exchange Outbound committee chair. He was on hand today to share the overall mission of Youth Exchange and the benefits the program provide to high school age youngsters. Matt began his presentation by showing a short video that had Youth Exchange students who had participated in the program.
Matt. He also explained some of the requirements and gave us a summary of the stories these young people provided after their exchange experience. We were given lot of the structural information about the program as well as a list of the tremendous benefits it provides to these youth. Basic requirement of the program are set up to insure that the outbound student is vetted, requirements in the host family as well as basic understanding and rules are in place. The students who participate in this program are provided with a once in a lifetime experience. The program cost works out to be on the order of $6000 for the year of education in a foreign country.
Many of us in our Rotary club remember the inbound Russian student who came and spent a year in El Cerrito High school.

This program is something that provides a world class opportunity and a world class experience as well as a chance to learn and use a foreign language.
