Today’s Program.

We had a club assembly today with the main topic being a review of the progress on the Sip and Savor that is scheduled for Oct 1 of this year.  Sonya gave us a brief summary of the scope and work occurring on the event.  Overall the goal is to secure $30k of pledges for this year’s event. The other was to clarify the two charities that will be benefactors for the event.  This year our two charities are The Student Activities Foundation (SAF)at El Cerrito High School.  The other is the Contra Costa Civic Theater (CCCT).  Both of these organizations have agreed to the guidelines and goals for the event.  Next week we will have Kathleen Flynn from the CCCT as our guest speaker.  Be sure and attend this presentation so you will know what a valuable resource they are for our community.  Going back to the sponsorships and what is happening with that aspect of the work, Sonya provided summary information on the sponsorship opportunities.  There are five levels from Bronze ($300) to Diamond/VIP ($3000). Sonya indicated we need three more wineries and a coupld of other vendors for the event.  In addition, there will be special rooms for VIP raffles and other special situations.  There will be some raffle prizes that will auctions.   This will all be finalized by the last meeting of this month.  This was a very comprehensive presentation and gave us all a chance to see how we are doing and where we are going.

Sonya provides us an update on Sip and Savor operations

Thank you Sonya for giving us a comprehensive update on all the aspects of what we can do and what needs to be done for us to have a successful fund raiser.

Raffle Winner:  Gary won the the twelve pack of beer.   Gary also had his ticket pulled to choose a marble and pulled a catseye marble.  Next week the jackpot will be $75.  Terry is implemented a new reward for the person who wins the marble draw.  If you pull a catseye you get to choose from the “Basket of Fun” which is a bunch of interesting things that have been collected that are useful giveaways that business people provide to their clients.  Gary selected a handy flashlight that is small but very bright.

Thought for the week:

Liberty does not work as well in practice as it does in speeches.
