Today’s Program.

Gary introduced Taylor Lee District Governor of 5160. Taylor was on hand to tell us about “End Polio Now” annual campaign which is on Sunday Nov 5th.  This is an annual 5k run/walk that raises a lot of money for the End Polio Now campaign.  Last year $51000 was raised.  The event has a $20 entry fee.  The event is in its fifth yea.  Taylor gave us some background about himself and his goal in attending UCB.   As a senior Taylor is looking forward to moving into employment with Ernst and Young accounting firm.

Taylor’s presentation showed the many aspects of polio what the current efforts involve.  The battle has narrowed down to three countries, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.  Although Nigeria has been without a new polio case for most of this year.  The overall commitment is to eradicate polio.  This is easier said than done.

Taylor gave us an outline of how UCB Rotaract operates and the breakdown of the organization. This was all quite interesting.  They have many ways they keep the Rotaract members engaged in the club.  They hold public service opportunities each week which gives members a lot of activities in which to participate.  Taylor gave us a rundown on how the club’s six departments produce the success for the club.  One of the more interesting questions to Taylor centered on how they could track which Rotaract members make it to Rotary.

This was an excellent presentation and show just how engaged the UCB Rotaract Club is in Rotary efforts.  Thanks to Taylor for a great presentation.
