President Terry:  Opened today’s meeting by greeting everyone.  The flag salute was led by Rafael and Terry provided the thought for today.

Guests and visiting Rotarians:  

Rafael’s wife Anna was in attendance today.


  • Terry gave us a rundown on his attendance at PrePETS and summarized many of the high points. It was a great event and he will be telling us more about it at future meetings.
  • Our Rotary board meeting will be Tuesday Feb 13th at 12:30p at the Club
  • The Rotocare clinic food service is our responsibility for Feb 20th. If you can take on this responsibility, please tell Pres Terry
  • March 23rd is the monthly BARSHEEP TGIFF. We are the hosts for the event and it will be held at the Club.  Plan on attending.  It is from 5:30 to 7:30p. 
  • There will be sign up for a bowling team from our club to support the RotoCare clinic. The event is May 12th.  If you want to go bowling sign up and do it.

 Happy Dollars:   

Joe Yang is happy about the Superbowl outcome.  Mark is happy about Cindi’s eye surgery.  Mark is also happy that the reverse grant for RotoCare has once again been made from Mexico.  Jan is happy to be an El Cerrito Rotarian because people are acknowledged for the work they do for the club.  Sarah is happy for the work party at the school garden.  It is becoming more popular and a number of teachers are now taking advantage of this great asset at the school.  Dr Javadi is happy to be here today and thanked us for giving him and his team the opportunity.  Jack is happy about his grandkids good grades rewards program.  He told us about the program and how his 7th grade grandchild made a pitch to be included since she was awarded student of the month for Jan.  Don is happy about the phone conversation he had with Jane.  He said she sounds good and is just like the Jane we all know and love.  Sil is happy the 49ers have signed a quarterback to the club for next year.  Rafael is happy is have taken a class to learn how to deal with difficult clients,  Lee is happy about the speaker for next week and encouraged us to all come and enjoy her presentation.  Terry is happy his Daughter got him a Warriors T-Shirt.

Other Interesting Things:  President Terry showed a video of the polio plus work in Afghanistan which was quite inspirational and showed the level of commitment that exists to eradicate polio.


Today’s Program.   

Kanti introduced today’s program.  The team from Pacific Dental at the El Cerrito Plaza which contained four individuals:  Dr Javadi, Toreano Norris, Jillian and Jeanie.  These folks are the staff at the dental office.  The grand opening for the office is Feb 20th, although they are open now.  This is a full service dental facility that offers the latest in technology and trained team members.  Each of the team members gave a summary of their main role in the operation and what part of the service they provide.  Dr. Javadi began the presentation by stressing the key points in dental care and how he and his team carry out the numerous tasks.  The overarching goal is to provide the best in care using the best techinques that minimize pain and maximize results.  Jullian explained some of the more interesting aspects of what she does.  The dental office is affiliated with a network of other dentists throughout the state.  Dr Javadi ended the presentation by asking the team to conduct the drawing for a nice electic toothbrush.  Marty  was the lucky winner.

Raffle Winners:

Kanti won the bottle of wine.  Rafael had his ticket pulled for the marble game and drew a blue marble and won $2.  Next week the jackpot is $75. Marty won the electric tooth brush raffle for Pacific Dental.
