Gary told the story of getting the photo of School Advisor Patty Caballero and the HS Principal on Wednesday.  Nobuko gave us a quick update on her cruise to Spain, Portugal, and Germany and the challenge of getting home.  Jan told us about the community service work she and her team do at the soup Kitchen and how impactful it was for one of her team.  Rafael had $10 for the support he got from Rotarians for his Mother’s day celebration.  Michael is happy about the Bowl-a-thon and his wife participating.  Michael is also happy his son and daughter are coming to participate in the Bay-to-Breakers event.

Sgt at Arms: Not on duty today

Today’s Program:

Jan introduced Lesa McIntosh to speak to us about Probate and how important it is to have a current estate plan to keep it up to date.  Lesa gave us a quick summary of how expensive it is to have all the legal parts in place so when we pass there will be an orderly transfer of the resources to the survivors.   She explaned the probate fee that will result if there is no trust in place.  In addition, an up to date power of attorney is cruicial.  She answered many questions and she provided a Estate Plan Checklist one can use as a guide.  Lesa invited us to contact her if we wanted to find out more to find out what is involved in setting up a trust.  This was an excellent presentation and everyone was impressed with her information and the challenge to get or keep our house in order around the issue of what happens when we are not longer alive.  Thanks to Jan for inviting Lesa to speak to us!!

Thought for the week

The Rotary Motto is “Service Above Self.”  We get to count the blessings we receive from being a Rotary and we see all the good our fellow Rotarians do for everything they do.  Consider what Rafael did for the “moms” in his neighborhood.  Pretty amazing the lengths Rotarians go to when honoring others.
