Editors Note:  We learned just before our weekly meeting that one of our all time great members, Joe Conwill had passed away this morning.  Some of you may not know Joe’s Father Fred Conwill was a founding member of El Cerrito Rotary in 1949.  The Conwill’s have been great supporter of El Cerrito Rotary and the events we have sponsored over the years.  We are all saddened for the loss of Joe.  May all his friends and family be assured Joe will not be forgotten.

President Terry:  greeted everyone and asked Sal to lead the pledge.  Terry provided the thought for today.

Guests and visiting Rotarians:  Visitors today included Lisa McIntosh and Sabina Pan.  This is Sabina’s last meeting as a guest as she will be sworn in as a new member next week

Today’s Program:

Gary introduced Dr. Jay Sordean to speak to us today about personality styles and how they impact us.   Took us through a Four Cards evaluation so we could see what we value and the ways we express our values through action.  There were four colors of cards in this evaluation and each of these cards had twelve things which expressed what we value most.  Each set of values had a color associated with the set of values.  We then chose that color that most suited our values.  And then arranged the others in order of importance below the top one.   Jay helped us understand how communicating to other in a way that supports their values can be most effective.  He concluded with examples of how our values are important and help us understand about how we assign importance to others.

This was a very interesting demonstration of personal values and how e choose what’s important to us.  Thank you Sonya for having Jay visit us and share this valuable information with us.
