Past President Marty:  greeted everyone and asked Steve to lead the pledge.  Marty provided the thought for today.

Guests and visiting Rotarians:  Neal Wells of the Lafayette club was our guest

Announcements:

  • Jack announced that Don and Mary Farquharson have moved into El Cerrito Royal. Since Don has the issue with his lungs, they have both move into assisted living.  Jack will find out when we will be able to visit them and let us know in a week or so
  • Sal reported he has found a chocolatier for our Sip and Savor event. He is also working on one of the best bakeries in the area to participate.
  • Jane gave us a “pep talk” about everyone doing their best to work on Sip and Savor as our club has fewer members and we are not as mighty as before. We will all have to pull together to make sure we pull together to get everything handled

Happy Dollars:

Michael is happy for his 38th anniversary.  Marty is happy for his shop being the busiest it has been for a long time.  He wondered how much has to do with him closing the shop at the end of the year.  Gary is happy for his successful hernia surgery on Monday.  George is happy for his 64th anniversary and 84th birthday.  Jane is happy for her vacation and meeting a Rotarian who was on his way to Toronto for the Rotary convention.  Jan is happy she went on a climb of Mt Tam even though it was challenging.  Nobuko is happy for an old house she and Jon purchased and remodeled after a lot of trials and tribulation with Berkeley bureaucracy.  Sil is happy for his 52nd anniversary.  Jack is happy the El Cerrito Rotary Foundation is doing well and will be able to make a donation to the fire victims in the district.

Sgt at Arms:  Not on duty today

Today’s Program:

Because we had no guest speaker, Marty decided that he would give time for Rotarians to recount favorite trip they experienced.  He began by telling us about Anker Watt in Cambodia.  Gary told about his trip to Pierre, SD where he visited the local Rotary club.  Jack told about he and Carol going with Mark and Cindy Scott to Hot Air Balloon event in Alburqueque.  Sil told us about a location in Italy that was build 2500 years ago as well as a trip about Caprie.   Larry seconded the and shared his trip to Sarento.  Sal told us about spending time in Japan when he was in the army.  Marty closed by telling us about the wonders of Glacer National Park.  Great experiences shared by our fellow Rotarians.

Raffle Winners

Steve had his ticket pulled and won the bottle of wine.  Steve also had his ticket pulled for the marble game and selected a catseye marble.  Next week the pot will be $90.

Thought for the week

If we continue doing things the same as we always have, we will continue to get the same results.
