Announcements:

  • Sept is BARSHEEP TGIF day and it is our turn to host the event. If anyone can volunteer to find a place and set this up tell President Terry
  • A volunteer was solicited (Lee) chose to do it. Develop a one page flier of the sip and savor event. This flier will be passed out before the event starts and to everyone who comes in.  It was also agreed that we want a Rotary table at the event so people can check out the multiple things that Rotary offers to everyone.  This table will also have the VR setup that Jack is putting together with the Interact leadership to have a great so and tell piece for the event.
  • Terry thanked the September team for getting a leg up on the speakers
  • Sabina handed out the form for each of us to take and use for the prizes for the raffle. Be sure and get one so you can donate all kinds of things.  Norma Buffon makes beautiful jewelry and will be donating ear rings and necklaces for the event.

Happy Dollars:

Nancy told us the story of her 2yr old grandniece who was having difficulty standing.  Turns out that she had a brain tumor and a doctor at children’s hospital in New York did surgery to remove a tumor that was half the size of her brain and now the sweet little girl is nearly completely healed on her way to a normal life. Jan is happy she got to go with friends to Angel Island.  Lee had $10 for the news about his daughter’s boyfriend proposing to her and now the excitement begins in prep for the wedding.  Jack ishappy to be getting the Interact leaderships team involved in the VR setup for the Sip and Savor.

Sgt at Arms:  Not on today

Today’s Program:

Kanti introduced Sabina Pan (our new Rotaria

n) to speak to us about herself and her profession.  Sabrina gave us a great rundown on her beginnings in the bay area where she granduate from Albany High and went to Cal on a scholarship and ultimately got her Certified Public Accountancy education and is now practicing in her office near the Albany/Berkeley border.  Her speciality is in tax planning and insuring her clients make the best choices when it come to things that has tax conseuences.

Sabina works with her clients to help them understand and set up the best tax process for the business and household.   Most recently she has written two books and both of them are available on Amazon. Sabina gave us a lot of good information and encouraged us to be sure we know what is best for our challenge of keeping the most of our money that we earn and save.  She even gave us ideas about our children and grandchildren and how we might encourage themt o decide what they could do to insure they are able to maintain their financial assets without losing too much to the IRS dure to lack of knowledge or understanding of what has become a very complicated issue.

Sabina handled a number of questions about what happens to an IRA at retirement IRA and the difference between a traditional IRA and a Roth.

Be sure you contact Sabina with your tax questions and you may want to schedule a consultation with her so you can get some excellent guidance on how to make sense of your taxes and your money.
