Editor:  Gary Buffon

President Elect Marty greeted everyone and Kanti led the flag salute. Marty offered a thought for today.

Guests: We had no visiting Rotarians or guests today

  • Jane reiterated the Terry demotion dinner on June 22 at La Strada starting at 6 p with dinner at 7:30p and the demotion program shortly after dinner
  • The bowl-a-thon was a great success. Andy reported that $3505 was raised for the organization by our club.
  • July 11th is a dedication for our memorial Bench at Cerrito Vista. We will attend the event at 11a and then come to Rotary where we will have several guests.  Tracy reminded us of the importance of this activity.  Be sure you plan on attending this meaningful and special event
  • Sonya updated us on the status of the Sip and Savor activities.  First we need more vendors so if you know anyone go speak to them about this opportunity

Happy Dollars:  Gary is happy the Camp Royal students are getting close to the end of their week.  When they return we will set up the time for them to come and tell us about what they did.  Maryty is happy his friend Cindy has moved nearby and can take the ferry to work in SF.  Sonya is happy the remodeling at her facility is moving along.  She is happy because Rafael and Mark F were able to help her out with resources.  Jan told the story of her and colleagues riding the ferry to SF and then getting on the wrong ferry when they came back.  A good time was had by all.

Sgt at Arms:    Not on duty today.

Todays Program:

Sonya introduced Craig Turner who is a Benefits advisor for Medicare.  Craig did a great job is explaining how the system work and the importance of getting the correct information about the resources that are available for seniors and ways they can find out about how to access the benefits available.  There are so many things available, it is often a bit problem in making sure people know what will work and how much does it cost.  Craig answered a lot of great questions and encouraged everyone to make sure the seniors in their live knew how to get the information they need.

Thanks to Sonya for having Craig speak to us today.

Todays Raffle:  Andy won the bottle of wine. The marble game marble was picked by Sil.  He pulled a black marble costing him $5.  Next week the pot will be $55 as we do it all over again..

Thought for the Week:

Looks like we are going to have a great Rotary Year.  There are many opportunities to remember our Rotarians and to take confidence in the fact that our club is a very caring group that works hard to remember the wonderful things that our fellow Rotarians have done over the years.
