Happy Dollars: Nobuko is happy for going to Japan. Paul is happy about learning about a computer problem.  Jack is happy about the fireman that Chief Pigoni had help Jack.  Al Caruso is happy about the card the Rotary club send him when he was ill.  Tracy is happy about Sip and Savor.  Anna is  happy to be here today with Rafael.

We had two presentations today with VP of Interact Jenny Fox one of our Interact members that attended Camp Venture at St Mary’s College. Gary Buffon (Rotary advisor to Interact) introduced Jenny.  She wanted to give us a summary of the Rotary Camp Venture program she attended.  We were provided a great summary of the business camp that was held at St Mary’s College where the students were provided room and board.  Jenny gave us a summary and specifics about what she and her colleagues did for the week in preparing in small groups a fully developed business plan that would be presented at the final day of the camp to the counselors and other students.  This program, like all similar programs in Rotary are done in such a way as to engage and take advantage of the exciting environment for the campers.  Jenny explained the scope of her team’s business venture which in short was a computer application for students who are graduating from college and desire to have some fundamental ways to set up their wardrobes to launch their professional lives.

We all enjoy hearing about Jenny’s experience.  One of my favorite things is to hear about the experiences of the Interact members telling us about the wonderful things they get to do at Rotary Camps.

Today’s Main Program:

Greg Lyman was introduced by El Cerrito Police Chief and Rotarian Paul Kieth to speak to us about all the many things going on at the city.  Greg is Mayor Pro Tem of El Cerrito and he gave us a summary of what has been going on with the city’s plans and current development projects.  He passed out map of major projects, proposed and approved as well as construction projects.  This information is very informative and gives a picture of what to expect over the next couple of years.  Greg provided details and answered questions about what is happening.  This was a high quality presentation and gave us all an opportunity to hear first hand the answers to questions he had.  Thanks to Greg for spending the time with us.  Bottom line is that Mayor Greg wants to have the Rotary members as his allies and for us to understand the goals of the city.  This is a good way to promote our city and support the growth and success of El Cerrito.

Thanks Mayor Lyman for the great presentation and thanks to Chief Kieith for inviting him to speak today

Todays Raffle:  Jack won the bottle of wine.  Michael won chance at the reffle and selecgted a catseye.  Next week the pot will be $95.

Thought for the Day:   What ever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon will inevitably come to pass.
