Happy Dollars:

Andy is happy as he has a shot at the job of cleaning windows at the Sales Force Tower in SF.  Jack is happy that speakers for Dec and Jan are all set.  Also he mentioned that this months Rotarian Magazine is outstanding.  It is – check it out!!   George is happy about the trip to Ireland that his daughter on which he and Norma were taken.  Rachael is happy that her husband has returned from his business trip as it mean parenting duties are reduced.  Rafael is happy and grateful for his success and thankful for his family and the US.   Chief Michael Pigoni is happy for the work the ECFD contributed to the Kincade fire.  He is also happy about his new granddaughter.  Michael Chang is happy his kids are coming home for Thanksgiving.

Today’s Program:  Marty introduced our speaker today: Steve Price who is a member of the El Cerrito Urban Forest Committee.  Steve explained how the committee plays a role in dealing with the beautification of our urban environment.  He told us of his experience in working with the council and the city arborist.  There has been a lot of work done on this critical urban activity.  Steve creates before and after renderings of the impact that trees have on the urban environments.  He showed us slides of the work he has done for many cities.  His renderings were very useful in giving a picture of how trees can be used to radically change the way the building appear and to make the areas more human friendly.  This was really fascinating and showed just how important the proper trees planted in the proper place can make a major difference in both the appeal and results for a city.  The city has a lot of great information on their website and you can check it out.  There are also legal guidelines on what trees can be planted in front of your house.  It is good to know about the extensive work that has been done.  If you have questions about specific trees you get the information.  You can also talk with the city Arborist Stephen Pree  Take advantage of these great resources provided by the City!

Todays Raffle:  Nobuko won the bottle of wine.   Rafael had his ticket drawn for the marble raffle and selected a catseye.  Andy won the marble drawing and selected a cats eye.  Next week the pot will be $115.

Genie Stone:  Rafael won the magic stone for December.
