President Marty opened the meeting by greeting everyone and Sil led the flag salute and Marty offered the thought for today.

Guests & Visiting Rotarians:    We had no guests today.

Announcements:

  • The Rotary Board will meet at 10a on Feb 6th which is immediate before our Club meeting of our DG visit.  Be sure and be there!!
  • Be Prepared to hear our DG and ask questions.

Sgt at Arms:  Steve acknowledged Sonya for efforts on the Sip and Savor donation work.  John got acknowledged for his 57th anniversary.  Then he asked Andy, George, Jane and Jan to tell what it means to them to be Rotarians.

Happy Dollars:

Terry is happy for being here but was a little late.  Andy is happy we have three new Rotarians in the club.  Jack is happy that the country club is hiring new staff and doing things to increase the club’s revenues.  Sonya is happy to be back from a great vacation and also happy that her brother is doing well after back surgery.   Nancy is happy about a song she got that makes babies happy.   She played it for us and it was nice.

Todays Program:

We did not have a program today but instead we concentrated on determining what we would have to do to get our club in a position to gain more members and take advantage of having two meetings per month or two day meeting and evening meeting.  Andy indicated he has developed a plan for his year as President and wants to give the members a chance to take some positive action with that plan.   Lee indicated his point of consideration:  Evening meetings may be a draw for younger members.  Jack pointed out that several clubs in our area have evening meetings that we could visit.  We closed out the meeting with three things to consider:  a. Have two meetings in the noon venue and one evening.  b.  Keep the four meetings per month and c. Change our venue and then decided about meetings.   Marty did had us do a straw vote of these options but there was no sense any of it being unanimous so it will be discussed at the board meeting prior to the DGs visit.

Todays Raffle:  Andy had his ticket drawn for bottle of wine.  Jack had his ticket drawn for the marble game and selected a cats eye marble.  Next week the pot will be $150.

Thought for the Day:  When an organization is at a crossroad, the members must look within to see what their goals and values are that will help the group move toward a direction and goal that will make the organization better!
