Happy Dollars:  Cal football game.  Gary is happy Norma has a new car and it is a beauty.  Michael had a great Christmas in Seattle with his kids.  Andy is happy he is feeling better after getting over a “bug.”  He is glad his boys are still in town and he is able to enjoy being with them.  Jack is happy about the Rotary Rose Parade float and the award it got.  He is also happy for the class he did at El Cerrito Royale with a great group of elder folks.  Marty if happy about his camping trip to Los Gatos.

Today’s Program:  Tita Escalada, President of Hercules Rotary was introduced by Marty to tell about the great success she has enjoyed in recruiting and turning around the club.  Tita had been involved in Rotary before as a member of San Pablo and Danville Clubs.  Tita joined Hercules when its membership has dimished and her daughter was club president and asked her Mom to jump in to help grow the club.  Tita took over on July 2nd and has taken on the challenge of getting the club back on its feet.  Tita shared her plan of action for what she did for the Hercules club.  She did things like having a 4th of July table to recruit new members.  Then she used the guest speakers to further her recruitment goals.  She also did a strong recruitment of guest speakers and guests to increase her ranks.  She shared the story of the Bio Rad speaker she recruited after his presentation of STEM education.  As of now she and her club has recruited 14 new members this year.  The focus on membership has been extremely successful.  The club meets twice monthly on Tuesdays from 12  to 1:30p.  She focuses on a number of key things.  Having a welcoming membership that creates a climate of enjoyment and inclusion.  The other goal is to have two guests per month.  She also gets the new members to share “why I joined Rotary and why I enjoy the meetings.  In addition, everyone has a recruiting mindset.  This is key in establishing the club as “the place to be!”

This was an outstanding presentation and was really good for all of us Rotarians to hear.  I know for I have not been applying high energy to very much of anything.  Now I can redouble my mental efforts to be more energetic.

My appologies for not having the picture I took of Tita with President Marty but I have not solved the technical issues with my cell phone sending the picture to my email.

Todays Raffle:  Chief Michael Pigoni had his ticket drawn for the marble raffle (again) and selected a cats eye marble.  Next week the pot will be $135.  Michael Chang had his ticket drawn for the bottle of wine.  She also had her ticket drawn for the two Chilpolte resturant tickets.

Thought for the Day:  Think back to your first days in El Cerrito Rotary and from that what you have become as a result of being a member.  Now go find other who you know would want to have the same thing happen for them.
